We welcome everyone to join us in this exciting and novel collaboration between IAIR AND IACCP – the first ever joint conference! In this initiative we aim to bring people together from all around the globe and across disciplines for a connected and empowering experience celebrating all things intercultural and cross-cultural in Brisbane at the heart of the Sunshine State of Australia.

Experience the richness of cultural diversity in Australia, where there is a history of First Nations peoples spanning more the 60,000 years and an incredibly multicultural population made of many distinct groups. In fact, the Australasian region is one of the most diverse places in the world, having a large number of Indigenous cultures, a very high proportion of migrants, and a strong record of humanitarian resettlement. Yet, the region is also vast, both culturally and geographically. As such, there is strong, multidisciplinary interest and expertise within the region concerning culture and intercultural relations. We hope you will join this important event and bring your expertise and experience to join us in discussing some of the most important issues we face in the contemporary context.

A Welcome From Our Organisers and Organisations

Dr Jaimee Stuart

jaimeeDear all,

It is with great pleasure to Co-Chair the first joint meeting of the International Academy of Intercultural Research Biennial Conference and the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Regional Congress in Brisbane, Australia, 2025. Having been a long-time member of both organisations, I have often hoped that a time would arise where we would all be able to come together in solidarity to in action towards our common goals. I am fortunate that many others understood this vision and have supported this event, and am pleased to invite you all to Brisbane, Australia for this conference.

The theme for this joint conference will be "Bridging Intercultural Divides in a Digitally Connected World". This theme highlights the importance of researchers and practitioners coming together across disciplines, traditions, and geographical divides to build trust and connection among diverse peoples. A key objective of both IAIR and IACCP is to promote intercultural understanding and take an evidence-based approach to contemporary risks and opportunities in a globalised world. Our conference theme highlights how relationships are challenged, but also enabled by digital transformation and seeks to highlight new and emerging topics of interest in the fields of intercultural relations and cross-cultural psychology. Abstract submissions will be opening very soon, and we look forward to welcoming you to sunny Brisbane, Australia, to take part in this exciting meeting of the minds!
